DXF is what CAD and laser-cutting software reads. This tool finds the dark shapes in an image, traces their outlines and writes closed polylines into a DXF file. It works well for logos, icons and line art; photographs mostly produce noise, because a photo has no clean edges to trace. One source pixel becomes one DXF unit, so scale the drawing in CAD to the size you need.

How to use it

Step 1. Drop a logo or line-art image
Step 2. Adjust the threshold until the preview outline matches the shape
Step 3. Download the DXF and open it in CAD

Questions

Will it work on a photo?
Not well — photos have no clean edges, so the trace turns into noise. Use it for logos, icons, signatures and line art.
What units does the DXF use?
One source pixel becomes one drawing unit after the image is scaled to fit 600 px. Scale the drawing in CAD to the real size.
Why are there extra contours?
Every closed shape becomes a polyline, including holes inside letters. That is usually what you want for cutting; delete the ones you do not need in CAD.
Does it upload my image?
No — the tracing runs in your browser.
