A favicon needs a real .ico container — renaming a PNG to .ico often fails in Windows. This page draws your PNG into a square canvas at the size you pick, encodes it as PNG and wraps it in a correct ICO header, all locally.
How to use it
Step 1. Drop a square PNG
Step 2. Pick the icon size
Step 3. Download the .ico
Questions
- Is this a real .ico file?
- Yes — the download has the ICO header and contains a PNG image, the format modern browsers and Windows accept.
- Why does my icon look squashed?
- The image is centre-cropped to a square first, so a non-square logo loses its edges. Start from a square source for best results.
- Which size should I use?
- 32×32 for the classic favicon; 256×256 if you also need the Windows app icon.
